Recycled materials into... Voila! Valentines 2 years ago

This was made from leftover xmas decorations, foil stars, glitter glue, and the top of Joan of Arc brie cheese box, and misc stuff… and a butter box. I had everything on hand. I made some other valentines out of various cardboard containers and last year’s calendars. It was fun, and the kids got a kick out of it, and enjoyed their own creativity. I also made a beautiful birthday card for my daughter out of a kleenex box and other recycled stuff.

Valentines Day Cards 2 years ago

Do you recycle? We have a couple bins in our house. One of them is for paper/cardboard. I breakdown every box that dry food comes in… mixes, tea bags, cereal, butter boxes, and even postcards and junk mail and etc.

My kids and I cut hearts out of these cardboard pieces and made some pretty cool valentines using the company’s artwork and other craft items such as: yarn, glitter glue, foil heart/star/flower stickers, spray paint and etc. They are basically the same size as a purchased school valentine, but with more creativity involved.

An added feature is that these valentines did not cost us anything but time… and an hour of craft time is a fun way to connect with your family/friends.

Today's little project 3 years ago

I am going to go out today with my canvas bag, and troll the neighborhood for nice pine-cones. When I was a small child we made christmas ornaments by gluing glitter or cinnamon imps or other items to the pine-cone and attaching some florist wire to the cone to make a hook or loop for hanging on a tree. At the store today I noticed that a bag of pine-cones costs $5! They are free on the ground! I have some sliver spray paint left over from another craft project, so maybe we will make some silver ones too. I think it will be a fun little project for me and my boy.
