For my birthday (12/21), my fiance bought precisely what I asked for – the Yoga Journal DVD set. Now an even better chance to do more for this goal…

I was bad. On Friday, during my 3-hour break from classes, I stopped by Lululemon on 3rd Street…

Which resulted in me purchasing a top and cropped pants!

But I wore them today, especially during my bout of healthiness.

Anyway, my fiance suggested I do more yoga because the bike ride proved that my body is weak. W-E-A-K. So, here is more incentive to practice practice.

My yoga kit came in yesterday.
And so it begins! Everyday, I’ll try my best to wake up early and practice, if only for a little while.

So I bought some tools to further my practice. I won’t be using the video though.

And since Amazon.com offers free shipping with orders $25 and over, I added a $3 CD to save $4 in my order.

So I returned the DVD to Netflix, thinking I could find the discs for cheaper. I mean, they’re that good that I’m willing to own them.

Except they’re not cheap really; $12 and up for just one disc. So until I can justify spending at least $36 on it all, I’ve been practicing to candlelight at night.

I’ve probably done the first part of Surya Namaskar 5 times in the past week. I tried the second part and almost fell over.

So Far 3 years ago

I started last night and this morning did my first part of Surya Namaskar (sun salute).

The DVD is pretty good. It has the slower instructional section and a practice section that goes at the faster pace, which is great. And the amazing thing is she has an assistant who does the positions for beginners who aren’t as flexible or strong yet. You can watch his entire practice instead of hers.

It’s very refreshing and my body feels – well, it feels stretched.

But I need yoga blocks of some sort. I am very, very inflexible. I can even see how much shorter this instructor’s legs are so I’m wondering how long it will take me to notice a difference in my calve muscles.
