Honoring Sir Coxsone

The past week, I immersed myself in listening to about a couple of dozen CDs that were recordings almost exclusively done at Studio One in Kingston. Hearing the music was highly inspiring to me, given how much I love hip-hop, rocksteady, and early ska. The city has so much history, good and bad. I have no idea what Kingston is like today, but I bet there’s a sense of history still present in town regarding the musical seeds that are so overlooked and influential in global music today.
