It really kind of falls under give handmade gifts anyway, and I think I’ll feel more motivated to make a card when there’s an actual gift to go with it.

in the last week, so I am abandoning this goal.
It really kind of falls under give handmade gifts anyway, and I think I’ll feel more motivated to make a card when there’s an actual gift to go with it.
I set myself the goal of making 10 cards and I have had ample opportunity, but as each special occasion rolls around, I get too lazy to pull out all the materials and make a card. What I think I need to do is just set aside one day every year (or maybe every six months) where I just pull out all my crafting stuff and go wild making cards for the following year. As with many large projects in my life, the problem is just getting started.
It looks like one of these. Finally, another card after a hiatus of a few months. This is card number eight out of ten.
I have a few birthdays coming up. This should be enough to get me up to 10 cards, so that I can mark it off my list.
I’m not making my own holiday cards (at least not this year) because I tend to find them very cheap and I still have so many I want to use up.
This is turning out to be much easier than I thought. I guess the difficult goal is making good cards…i.e. cards that almost look like they are professional.
Well, I’m pretty satisfied with mine. I streamlined the process by making three similar cards at a time. There are only two cards in the picture, but the third one looks pretty much the same.
It’ll probably only be another month before I make it to card #10 and am done with this goal.
I have three birthday cards to make this month, so I spent $10 yesterday on materials. (I only meant to spend $9…I’ll take $1 off next month’s budget.) I got a pad of paper with various designs, a glue stick, a ‘happy birthday’ stamp, a set of 4 dinosaur stamps, and a set of 4 zoo animal stamps. I really need to buy some markers or colored pencils, but that will have to wait until next month, I guess.
Is going to be included in my care package to Jason.
It’s fairly simple since I haven’t accumulated many supplies yet, but I think it’s not too bad for a first try.
Edit: I’ve added pictures of cards #2 and #3 into the comments of this post.
I am going to Michael’s tomorrow and am going to get myself some starter materials. I have a few cards I’d like to make this month, but there’s one in particular I have to make. It’s a birthday card for someone who inspired me to put this goal on my 43T list in the first place. I wanted to do it last year but didn’t really get started on this goal. Has it already been a year?
My plan is to visit Michael’s (or another craft store) near the end of each month to get supplies for the next month’s birthday cards. I’ll spend approximately what I would have spent on a commercial card anyway until I’ve built up a critical mass of card-making supplies.
I’ll set aside some time in my monthly FlyLady routines for buying supplies & making cards and I’ll mark this goal as complete once I’ve made (and sent!) 10 cards.
I pretty much don’t have any of the necessary supplies for making cards. Rather than spending a whole bunch up front to get supplies, I thought I’d accumulate the stuff gradually. Every time I need to make a card (for birthdays, etc.) I will spend $3 on card-making supplies in lieu of the $3 I would have spent on a Hallmark card. Now I just need to figure out where to get my supplies…
