Been having a hard time with this goal  — 1 year ago

I have been struggling with this goal for the last few months and I realized today that I started mainlining the sugar after I started exercising regularly. At first, I thought that it was just a psychological thing, you know that whole “well, I exercised, so now I will reward myself/ruin all the positive effects of exercise by eating a bunch of garbage.” That’s part of it, I am sure, but I realized today that I think there’s something wrong with how I am eating before and after exercise (or not eating as the case may be). About thirty minutes after I work out, I start craving sugar. Usually, I work out after I work all day and I eat lunch (usually at my desk) about 12 and don’t eat again until after I work out. Today, an hour before my exercise class started, I ate cottage cheese with cucumbers and green onions (yeah, I know most people think it’s gross, but I like it, so anyway…) and I had no sugar cravings tonight.

Something for me to think about…I don’t know if protein, protein with carbs, or what to eat. I may get a book. Also, I hate protein bars, so I will need to find some quick, non-perishable alternatives for when I can’t get to the cottage cheese.

I am doing OK on this goal. Saturdays seem to be difficult for me. The minute I get up, I want to go get a latte and by Saturday, I am a little sick of Splenda and skim milk. I also find myself craving things I usually don’t even want, like candy bars and ice cream (I have always been more of a cake and cookies kind of girl). I wish I could figure out why I get stuck on Saturdays. The rest of the week has been going pretty well, however. Now, if I could only quit chewing sugar-free gum all the time—I am starting to look like a cow chewing cud!
