Finally...

I have adjusted to getting up earlier. Now, I have a little more time in the mornings and on weekends, I feel like a get a lot more out of my days. I recently started volunteering at church and took the early shift (I have to be there at 7:45). I still have the occasional sleep until 10 or 11 day, but it’s a pretty rare thing.

Making progress here

I have been getting up earlier several days a week, mostly because I am working on a fitness goal and I can’t spend too much time outside as it is very hot and humid here and I am about as pale and sunburn-friendly as one gets. So I have been getting up 30-45 minutes early as least two work days and have been getting up by 8:30-9:00 on weekends as opposed to 10 or 10:30. I am glad I am making progress, but mostly I am just tired right now, but that’s probably more the exercise than the waking up earlier.

Thinking about giving up on this one

I would still like to get up earlier, but I am just so exhausted in the morning. I guess what this goal would really be is to get up earlier without having to go to bed earlier (I go to sleep between 11 and 11:30 pm and wake up about 6:45, but would like to wake up at 6 or 6:15). I don’t know if that is possible.

Ten minutes makes a big difference

My first mini-goal was just to wake up 10 minutes earlier on working days, and I have managed to do it on most of those (I think out of 6, I didn’t make it once, and I had a migraine on that day). The thing is, though, I feel so much more tired during the week and it’s only ten minutes. My eventual goal is to wake up at 6:15 on work days and wexercise a bit (just 20 minutes) before work. Right now, I am only at 6:40 and feel like I am dragging. I hope I adjust soon; if ten minutes is this bad, I can’t see ever getting up any earlier.

Weekdays...

I want to get up earlier on weekdays; right now, I get up at about 6:50 and I have to be at work by 7:30 (good thing I live close to work!). To start, I am going to try waking up ten minutes earlier at 6:40 since this would give me time to do something with my hair—which is completely fried now that the weather is so cold. My ultimate goal is to wake up at 6:15 each morning so I will have about an hour before I leave for work to do…whatever. Now on weekends, I plan to sleep as long as I want.
