encourage others to reach their potential

I was talking to someone yeterday about the work I’m doing with a team of people. Their response …

“Malc you need to remember we are not trying to make managers out of our sales advisors”

How arrogant, how condascending and let me tell you about those sales advisors … they are talented, they have a “can do” attitude and a number of them had very different roles in a previous life. One was PA to the CEO of a top UK newspaper, one was an ordainded minister of the church, one is more intelligent and challenging than even the best of our managers. The thing is that many of them chose to work as sales advisors for their own personal reasons.

Why do so many judge on the “label” rather than the “content” ?

So now I’m even more fired to help them fulfill their potential and I know who I would rather be working with !!!!!!!!!

Think I gonna move this to the top of my list and will start by sharing a poem …

I used to have a Comfort Zone where I knew I couldn’t fail
The same four walls of busy work were really more like jail

I longed so much to do the things I’d never done before,
But I stayed inside my Comfort Zone and paced the same old floor

I said it didn’t matter that I wasn’t doing much
I said I didn’t care for things like reaching goals and such

I claimed to be so busy with the things inside my zone
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own

I couldn’t let my life go by just watching others win
I held my breath and stepped outside and let the change begin

I took a step and with new strength I’d never felt before
I kissed my Comfort Zone “goodbye” and closed and locked the door

If you’re in a Comfort Zone afraid to venture out
Remember that even me my friends was one time filled with doubt.

I know it can be scary but you really must
Just close your eyes and go for it believe in me and trust.

A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true
Greet your future with a smile success is there for you!
