Be the best mom I can be

I had both kids with me for a quick trip to the grocery store the other day, and I was surprisingly calm and collected. The store that we go to has small carts for kids, but there was only one left so they had to share. I had them take turns (“You can push the cart to the strawberries and help me pick them out, then your sister will push the cart to the bread aisle.”) and it worked out really well. I felt like I was in control, and I think the kids liked being guided by someone that wasn’t turning into a raving lunatic.

Today was one of those “Crap Mother of The Year” days at my house. The kids were whining, they weren’t interested in their toys/activites or playing on their own, and I’m stressing over our upcoming holiday and all the preparations.

Yup, I sucked on the mothering front today. Tomorrow is a new day, though, and it’s gotta be better, right?

This is one of my toughest goals, and one that I strive to achieve all the time… being a parent is really the hardest job I’ve ever had.
