Jeannette. 2 years ago

I lived with Jeannette for 3 years during my undergraduate studies at UB. I barely knew her at first, and we spent our first year as roommates in a dorm room half the size of my kitchen. We didn’t kill each other, or even fight much, and we got to be really close friends. Heck, some marriages don’t even last 3 years, or even friendships.

Jeannette moved to Washington, DC last year and it made me so sad to see her go. Circumstances didn’t work out so well for her there, and she moved back to Buffalo just when I needed a friend the most. Her birthday was last week, and I wrote her a card to let her know that I don’t ever take everything she’s done for me for granted. She gets mentioned in my “things I’m grateful for” posts a LOT.

I love my friends, and I need to stop forgetting to tell them!

My Dad. 2 years ago

When I was little, I was afraid of my dad, as I was afraid of all men with beards (and all men who would yell at me when I did something I shouldn’t, like let the indoor cat go outside).

Now that I’m older, I realize that my dad is my biggest fan. He is the member of my family I get along with the best, the guy who makes me feel like I belong in my family. I even went on Spring Break with the man last year, but I’ve never told him how much I appreciate him.

My dad is one of the smartest people I know, but because he doesn’t learn the way school teaches, he doesn’t have a fancy piece of paper to prove it. The world often beats him down. I love how hard he works to make his life better. I love how proud he is of me for accomplishing the things he couldn’t. When I see him in 2 days, I am going to tell him all this, because everyone should know when someone loves them.
