have nothing in my house that I do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful

I’m going to mark this as done very soon – but don’t want to lose motivation until its done. I love our house, its full of interesting and quirky things and loads and loads of books.

My husband said yesterday he loves seeing the pile of boxes at the front door waiting to go out into the rubbish as it showed that we were getting rid of all of the crap in our lives. true. But I’d prefer the boxes outside – so I took them out this morning in my bare feet and pyjamas – It felt so good!!!!!

We have this hunking big piece of furniture that my husband bought at an antique shop when we lived in Newtown. Its an old Phillips radio – you know the old wooden ones with the big speaker down the bottom – I should post a pic really- anyway it really is beautiful but has served no purpose since we bought it a year ago as the radio doesn’t work but on the week end he finally pulled out the guts of this thing and is putting his fab stereo inside it – a clash of the modern and the traditional, the new and the old…So this thing is both useful and beautiful!!!

For Christmas I got two of the most beautiful ceramic bunny guys. I really love them and found them in my favourite shop in Newtown Made – and my hubby bought them for me.

He also bought me this amazing bento box. I have a big bento box thing – Japan is the first and only place I have been overseas because I’m such a scaredy cat bout flying, but I really like the idea of the little serving boxes. Anyway, the one he got me is phenomenal and is like a clash of three different cultures. First of all, it is made in France, is called a ming vase and is shaped just so, but then you break it down into little individual bento boxes. The outside is white so it looks nice and stark but when you pull it apart, the inside is this amazing sea green and has pictures printed on it, rivers and sea weeds and fish, and even an eye. It is beautiful and it is useful and it is mine!!! I would put up an image but at the moment I can’t work out how to….
