visit all 50 states

I would love to do the Mississippi road trip this summer. I would drive up to the mouth of the Mississippi in Minnesota from New Orleans then back again. Gas is an issue, as is wear and tear on my aging car.

I also want to go visit my sister in San Antonio before she goes back to New York in mid-March. That’s only 8 1/2 hours and very doable. Or not. It’s a long story that I can’t go into here.

I spent the night just outside Birmingham and went to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute en route to New Orleans. Alabama, check.
I spent the day canoeing with friends on Black Creek in Brooklyn, Mississippi. Sticky steamy sweaty and a lot of fun. Mississippi, check.

Spent the night on Monday in Rhode Island visiting a friend. Stopped in Connecticut for a rest stop but that doesn’t count because most rest stops look about the same.

Routing through Dallas on my way to New Orleans next winter won’t count either. Have to spend the night in the state or at least see something unique there.
