I told several people at work at the beginning of the year that I had set some “New Year’s Resolutions” which is what I’m considering my goals here on 43 Things. The other day someone asked me how I was doing on my resolutions and I had to say just OK. Some of my items I’m really working on religiously everyday, others I just remind myself of them daily by reading over my list in the morning. As soon as the weather gets better and I’m going to plant my herb garden and seasonal flowers so those will be taken care of, but I really need to seriously consider my other goals that I’m ignoring.

Well I decided to review my goals and eliminate those that were less important or that I’m kind of already working on by habit. I had 43 goals listed as allowed by this site, but that became too many for me, kind of overwhelming and making it hard to focus on some goals. I’m now down to 35 goals, which may again be too many for me, but for now I’m going to work with these. Here we go…...
Every morning while I drink my coffee before getting ready to go to work, I plan to check this web site and read over my list of goals. I find this is a good way to remind myself of them and consciously think of ways to achieve them, even in just a little way. I think it is slow deliberate efforts that will get you to reach your goal. I’m also setting up a routine so that I can automatically work toward my goals. For example, I’m putting out 4 bottles of water each morning on the kitchen counter. One of them I will drink while I get ready for work. I’ve put my vitamins out as well so I will take them with the water. The other 3 bottles of water I will bring to work to drink. If I drink all those, then I’ve reached my minimum requirement for the day and the rest is just bonus. I have a pattern of exercises I’m working into my morning routine. I’ve opened my family room drapes so that I’ll be able to see the sunrise. I read an entry in my book about birds while I eat my breakfast. I’ve decided to find different kinds of music to put in my CD player in the morning to make it more interesting and fun. Yesterday I listened to Ella Fitzgerald, wow, what a voice. I don’t know when it was the last time I listened to her. I take the stairs when I get to work, then read a short poem before turning on my computer for the day. My day has begun, and I’ve already worked on 11 of my goals!!!!
