this evening when it’s cooler. Perhaps that will keep me motivated. I’m on a break right now, but I must make sure the break doesn’t take over the work.
Wow, I just realized that if I keep going I will have decluttered two bedrooms, my bedroom and my extra bedroom. That would be FANTASTIC!

I have the box springs, mattress, and bed frame propped against the wall. I’m vacuuming underneath the bed and cleaning the wall behind the bed. I was pleased to see that I really don’t have much stored underneath my bed, but there are still things I plan on throwing out. I’m only keeping the essentials. After I finish around the bed, I’m going to more the night stand out and vacuum behind it and clean in that area.
Next, going through the boxes stacked in one corner of my bedroom and getting rid of everything. I still have a long way to go, but I’m making progess. I just have too many books, magazines, and papers. Purge, purge, purge.
Here’s a challenge to the team. Clean off the top of your dresser. If it’s clean, find another thing to clean or organize.

and tired of the whole process right now. But I’ll start in again tomorrow. I have to convince myself that it is worth it and that it will simplify my life.

I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.
Our life is frittered away by detail… Simplify, simplify, simplify! ... Simplicity of life and elevation of purpose.

progress. Must keep going. I’ve vacuumed the carpet, cleaned spots on the carpet, thrown away magazines, moved a TV stand that was in my living room into the bedroom, and cleaned the TV and put it on the stand. Hmmm, it doesn’t sound like much, but it all took a while. I MUST KEEP GOING!

About five years ago, this bedroom was actually just an extra bedroom, but then it became my mother’s bedroom with her bedroom furniture, until her death. I wish to God she was still here.
After my mother’s death, my grandson took the bedroom over as a game room, hangout room with his buddies. I gave my mother’s bedroom furniture to my 2 year-old granddaughter. It is a pretty set, and I thought my mother would like that. But a lot of my Mom’s stuff is still in the closet, and some of her pictures are still on the wall. Plus, there are random clothes in one corner and a Gameboy (working or not—who knows?) and assorted game CDs.
My grandson is moving back in with his dad, and I’ve got to steel myself to finish going through my Mom’s clothes and things.
I can do this. I can do this. If cia007 can get ready to move, a huge undertaking, I can do one simple bedroom.
Thanks everyone for all your entries. They keep me inspired.

Old magazines, old school papers, ideas for teaching (probably for things I’ll never teach again), etc. I’ve started going through stuff in the bedroom that I don’t need and pitching it into a large trash bag I have in there. I’m planning on cleaning out the closet in my bedroom next and donating large quantities of clothes to Goodwill.

Thanks for the invite. The hard part will be thinking of something that can be done in 1/2 hour. Hmmm, let me think for a minute. Is clean one bathroom counter and one bathroom drawer not specific enough? If I’m not specific enough on the challenge, let me know if I should add more or less or…
Best of luck to all.
