Total failure at this goal. 12 months ago

I’m not smiling more or laughing more or having more fun. I’m only existing from day to day—asking myself, why bother. Jobs are just nonexistent, so I guess I’m stuck at what I’m doing until my dying day. Perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad if I thought there was some purpose to it. It all seems so pointless.

Hmm, the quote on this page is by Ralph Waldo Emerson. It says, “Wherever you are, be there.”

Good advice…how do I force my heart to follow it when I so badly want to be somewhere else.

I have the day off of work tomorrow. YEAH! YEAH! Sure, I have to go for a root canal, but... 13 months ago

hey what the heck. I still don’t have to go to work. I’m going to vote early in the morning and then relax until I go to the dentist.

I’m smiling already.

It's hard for me to do this. I'm a very serious person. I don't like sophomoric humor, and... 15 months ago

it seems to be that that’s what most people enjoy. I also don’t like to discuss purely trivial matters. I probably just need to lighten up.

Boy, has this goal gone down the tubes since I'm back at school. I would love it... 15 months ago

if I was a student. However, being on the other side of the desk and battling constant apathy is no fun. What idiot has convinced today’s youth that learning is always fun and never hard work. Also, a curse on the touchy-feely self-esteem crap.

I think the touchy-feely self-esteem don’t hurt anybody’s feelings crap is the bane of America and partially responsible for America’s decline into third-world status. Hard work never hurt anyone.

Grumble, grumble, grumble. Old, bitchy school teacher.

Plant trees for others. Plant trees for life. 21 months ago

“The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.”
- Nelson Henderson

Do you ever wonder who planted the tree you sit under? Do you wonder what they looked like, what their life was like, their dreams? Do you wonder why they planted that tree?

Today is my horse jumping clinic with Jack (my horse). I'm so EXCITED! 21 months ago

Fun,fun, fun. I can hardly wait. We start at one o’clock. We’re leaving in a short while to haul Jack down to the arena. (One of my goals for this summer will be learning how to drive the truck with the horse trailer on, but for right now I’ll let my wonderful husband do that part.) I feel like a kid. I just hope Jack doesn’t go ballistic and throw me. I rode me outside this morning in one degree weather just to get the piss and vinegar out of him. I think I must be crazy. I really opened him up, and he can fly. He loves to go. Right now my toes are frozen, but it was worth it. I hope the indoor arena is warmer. This definitely qualifies as HAVING MORE FUN, at least for me.

Hurrah for dogs everywhere. Dogs are great. They enrich our lives... 22 months ago

tremendously. This is a picture of an adorable little Aussie that looks a little bit like my dog, Achilles. My grandson lost my digital camera. It will be a while before I buy a new digital camera. For now, my dog is on better terms with me than my grandson. :)

“You can say any fool thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says, `My God, you’re RIGHT! I NEVER would’ve thought of that!’” – Dave Barry

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring—it was peace.” – Milan Kundera

“I’ve seen a look in dogs’ eyes, a quickly vanishing look of amazed contempt, and I am convinced that basically dogs think humans are nuts.” – John Steinbeck

“The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man’s.” – Mark Twain, Letter to W D Howells, 4/2/1899

“I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive.” – Gilda Radner

All dogs, from the German Shepherd to the tiny Poodle, are direct descendants of wolves. They can all breed together and produce fertile offspring. Technically they are of the same species.

I couldn’t resist dogs make me happy. They make me smile and they make me laugh.

Thank heaven for cats. 22 months ago

Cats are such sweethearts. Emmy is always sweet and loving. She always makes me smile and often makes me laugh. Good therapy.

Laughed a lot today, so I've made some progress on this goal. 22 months ago

I’m really trying to look at everything in a new way. Trying to see the beauty instead of the negatives.

Insanity is running rampant in this world, but that doesn’t mean I can’t laugh, smile, and have fun.

Talking Frog 23 months ago

An engineer was taking a walk when a frog spoke to him and said, “If you kiss me, I’ll turn into a beautiful princess.”

He picked up the frog and put it in his pocket.

The frog spoke again and said, “If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I’ll become your girlfriend.”

The engineer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket.

The frog spoke again and said, “If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I’ll become your wife.”

The engineer took the frog out of his pocket again, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket.

Finally, the frog said, “What is the matter? I’m a beautiful princess. Why won`t you kiss me?”

The engineer said, “Look, I’m a busy engineer. I don`t have time for a girlfriend or a wife, but a talking frog, now that’s cool.”
