In April, I read 3 books! “First, break all the rules”, “Ultra-marathon man”, and “Man Search for Meaning”. Actually, I was kind of forced to because of the 30-day get-a-life challenge in our office. Each day I read a book got me 10 points. I feel so good about this, and I will shoot to read more books in the coming months, starting with those books I already have.
From the three books, three perspectives emerge: 1) Each individual (myself included) is unique and has the wiring to be excellent given the right job. 2) “If it doesn’t hurt like hell, you’re not pushing hard enough” – so I set a goal to complete an ultra-marathon, and have scheduled one on August 19 where I will run 52km at mt. pinatubo. 3) search for meaning is man’s primary motivational force. Man can find meaning from 1. doing a deed, 2. having an experience or meeting someone, 3. suffering.
