Yay! I went swimming at the high school the other day, 5:30am and two people actually clapped when they saw me walk in. That’s classic.
It was so hard – my arms and shoulders were exhausted!

1. lap swim 50 times this year – for at least 30 min
2. start to learn a new stroke – either butterfly or breast stroke
3. swim 5000 meters in one session (short breaks are okay). That’s 100 laps at our pool and the most I have ever done is 40. I figure at best this will take me 2 hours.
4. swim a 50 in under :50. I am a slow swimmer!
5. beat my triathlon pb swim times.
6. successfully swim the Olympic distance for the tri.
7. swim the Big Shoulders race in Chicago in September. Yikes!
These are ambitious goals, but my theme for the year is Dream Big, so I might as well go for it.
Today we swam at my mom’s apartment pool – not for fitness, but for family fun – and I had to put on a swimsuit. Good.
I bought 2 new TYR suits this week, so now I have no excuse.
I went swimming tonight with the kids at our new athletic center. It was awesome. The kids were in the babysitting room while I swam, and then I got them and we all played on the slides, warm pool, playground, etc. I am so excited about this place.
I swam for 30 minutes, didn’t count laps. Felt good, my shoulder is a little funky from chicken fights with Hayden on me, but it’s not bad.
Yahoo.
I can do this. I was swimming twice a week last year, and it’s such a nice part of the day. Plus it’s part of weight loss and triathlon training.
I’m self-conscious about going back after having been away for so long. But I know that after the first day it will be no big deal – just get the first day over with.
I WILL GO SWIMMING TWICE THIS WEEK.
