Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Day 364-366

Day 364
11. January

  • good food
  • sunny walk

Day 365
12. January

  • saw 2 old friends
  • laughing
  • started a cowl

Day 366
13. January

  • a few good strikes in bowling
  • a decision to sit on a bench in the park which lead to us seeing a woodpecker in the tree above! (my photo!)

I’m in a dilemma whether to stay on this goal or to take on grateful/grumpy goal or to think of some goal of my own (now that a year has passed).

Day 363

Day 363
10. January

  • finally booked bowling for Monday
  • a walk
  • drinking coffee with my mother’s friends
  • house is still full of food

Lately I’ve been consuming so much salads, sweets, juices that a diet (which I’ll probably start on Monday) will actually come as a welcome relief. :)

Day 362

Day 362
9. January

  • excellent food
  • got great presents (and got more than I expected I would)
  • foggy walk
  • saw a very dear friend
  • got a card from my Secret Santa giftee
  • laughing with my family

Overall, it was a good day, almost not frustrating at all and much better than I expected it would be. :)

Day 361

Day 361
8. January

  • finishing up the sweets for tomorrow
  • figured out I could actually wear my first fail cowl out
  • extremely foggy walk, really beautiful
  • take away pasta, mmmm
  • finishing a little chore that had been bugging me lately

Day 360

Day 360
7. January

  • managed to make a bunch of cakes without much frustration
  • decluttered a bit (whenever I come to my room I realize how many things I’ve got that I don’t use)
  • finished my blueberry scarf

Day 359

Day 359
6. January

  • very pleasant Christmas Eve dinner with my family
  • knitting my blueberry scarf
  • 2 walks!

We had a very interesting and at the same time scary experience during the afternoon walk today. We saw like 10 000 crows at the same place! They were coming from so many directions and gathering at some trees near the river (right where we walk), and across it on an island! And they were so loud and had such numbers! It seemed quite amazing, and of course it’s not really scary, but seeing so many at one place makes you think what are they up to, :)

Day 357-358

Day 357
4. January

  • breakfast by the river
  • coffee
  • knitting

Day 358
5. January

  • studying while following story of a game A. is playing
  • long evening walk, plus food along the way
  • Downton Abbey

Day 356

  • bought buttons, yarn and a journal (yay)
  • yummy doughnut
  • studied a bit
  • finalized my new cowl :)

Day 355

Day 355
2. January

  • knitting
  • studying
  • french fries
  • walks
  • ok breathing

Day 354

Day 354
