So as I said in one of my other posts, I have been lazy the last month and a half and have not really been keeping up with this goal, making every sort of lame excuse I can not to work out. However, I need to start my marathon training soon, VERY SOON. And I’ve been looking at some marathon training schedules and man, I’m not sure if I’m ready for 6 days a week of working out!!! I’m nervous but also kinda excited about the training cause if i can keep it up, then I’ll be looking and feeling great at the end of it. Looking forward t becoming one fit babe!

So I got lazy Tuesday with the workout. Buuuuuut yesterday I ran on the treadmill for and hour (5.5 miles) and then right after that I walked another 4.5. can count that as two this week? =)
Either way, felt great afterwards.
For awhile I was on a Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday running schedule and put in on hold for a couple weeks. Once I get into the habit and schedule it gets easier and easier to commit to myself. Oh man, but once I get out of the habit, so hard to get back in. But, that’s just what I have to do, is remind myself of the commitment. And that’s what I am going to do. No excuses on those days, just get out and go do it.
It’s amazing how fast you can sometimes progess. With the last month or so, I’ve been going on short runs about twice a week (in keeping with my goal). I’ve always been a pretty slow runner, running at about 11:30 – 12:00 mile pace. My last two runs have been great though. I ran about 4.5 miles at roughly 10:30 pace and I didn’t feel too exhausted or out of breath. Yesterday I cranked three miles at a 9:50 pace! Amonth ago, I wouldn’t have been a able to run a mile at that pace! It’s great to see this kind of progress and it is definately motivating me more so to get out there and just run!
I won the Nike Distance Tracker band awhile ago and it’s a great little tool cause not only does it track my distances and times, which I can upload and track online, but I can also join the online Nike Community and particpate with other runners in running challenges and creat goals for myself. It’s a great motivator to do more runs and i have been running about 2-3 times a week for the last month or so. If you need a little motivator, definately pick yourself up one of these cool gadgets.
You can get one for your ipod: http://store.nike.com/index.jsp?country=US&cp=USNS_KW_0611081618&lang_locale=en_US#l=shop,pdp,ctr-inline/cid-1/pid-118523
Or I have the wristband version (although I think they came out with a newer version so you may not be able to find this anymore): http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-Nike-Plus-Running-Sport-Wrist-Band-Watch_W0QQitemZ260313310976QQcmdZViewItem
I’ve been running outside more lately instead of running on the treadmill and it’s just great because not only do i get a better workout from running up and down the various hills in my neighborhood, but I’ve also “re-discovered” different parts of the community. You definately miss alot when driving around everywhere. Running around helps with picking up on the little details you miss form it.
I haven’t really worked out in several weeks. I am so bad, but I’ve just been so busy with moving, work, etc etc. I know I know, no excuses. I need to get back on track this week
Yay, I worked out 4 times this week, several of which were hour-long workouts.
Oh, and so far this year I have logged about 110 in miles in running/walking during my workouts. Time for some new running shoes soon =)
might as well put my all into it. So I was on the treadmill today running a little faster than normal, and I didn’t think I could keep up my 6mph speed for very long, but then I started practicing my positive psychology (one of my 43things) and kept repeating in my head that I could do it, that it feels good to be getting by heart rate up, working up a sweat, yada yada yada. I ran the first 4 miles at 6-6.5 mph. I was haulin ass! I finshed 4 miles in 38 minutes and 20 seconds and then 5 miles total in 52 minutes. Woohoo!
I think this is the level I need to keep working out at. I always jog at a very light pace, never really giving my heart a good workout. Now I have a better idea of what I should be shooting for and make future workouts more intense!
Still have not missed another target. However, like the last entry, I haven’t been on a regular schedule. I go for a workout early in the week and then don’t go again until the weekend. Not good.
I keep telling myself I should at least go for a walk for half an hour every day, doesn’t have to be anything strenuous, just a light simple walk just to get my butt moving even a little bit =)
