Since Monday

Been Caffeine free since Monday May 4, 2009.
There were two primary reasons I chose this:
- The “latte factor”—Buying a coffee (more likely 2-3) adds up fast. $2×30 = $60, then on top of that I usually get a baked good to go with that. I’m so broke right now that it does actually make a difference.
- Energy—I remember the first time I quit coffee. For days I felt without energy, and I could barely function without it. Gradually my energy levels came back, and I felt even more vibrant than before. I didn’t experience those high peaks and low valleys that coffee would induce.

This is not going well. Yesterday I woke up and had to go straight to Jiu-Jitsu class, so I bought a mocha.
Honestly, it helped a lot. It gave me energy when I hadn’t ate/drank anything yet that day.

My problem with caffeine is that I usually go on a major caffeine binge for one or two months, then I cut it out completely for long periods of time, six months or so.
It’s becoming a problem now because a) “The Latte Factor” means all these lattes add up to lots of $$$ over time and b) It makes me feel sluggish from all the sugar intake.
So today I’ve decided no more lattes. That’s it.
