to hike !
And you know what ? That’s ok! Some years are like that! While this hasn’t proven to be my year to hike and have the outdoor adventures as I had hoped…There is always next year!
I’ve got a lot on my plate, with so many changes to my life, professionally and personally.
As long as I take care of me.. it’s all good!
Hiking has not been a priority this year…
First ‘real’ hike of the year was yesterday – CANADA DAY – I’m thinking that is the most appropriate given how I feel about Canada!!
The hike was ohhh so good.. So good just to get out of the city, and outdoors again. It’s been too long! I did Heart Creek, an easy-peasy kind of hike, but a good 3 hours spent outdoors enjoying my friends and the outdoors, it doesn’t get much better!
Hike # 1
Distance 4km (return)
Height Gain 100 km (if that!)
A kazillion flowers were in full bloom, Indian Paintbrush in red, white and bright orange, scarlet fireweed, white avens, purple fleabane, yellow glacier lilies. The flowers are late this year in the mountains, ahh to my advantage :)
Last year I think I may have hiked 4 times, the year previous, I had months where I was hiking 3 times a week! On opposite ends of the scale!
This year I want to get outdoors more. Hiking was my passion just a couple of years ago, and it has waned.
Mainly due to an injury, last year I wasn’t able to hike, my typical amount.
This year, I am going to hike more often and also incorporate: snowshoeing, walking, sea kayaking and anything else that inspires me to be active and enjoy the outdoors.
I live only 1 hr from the Rockies, and surely I can find the time do do a hike or walk more often!
First of the year: I headed up to Lake Louise yesterday to enjoy the ice sculptures with some gals and had a great time taking photos, and just walking around.
Goal is to be outdoors more… in any form that it happens to take!
