japan has always fascinated me – both modern and historical. james clavell’s “shogun” is one of the best books i’ve read and pretty much so because of the subject matter. i also love utada hikaru’s music.
perhaps, the nearest experience i had with japan and its culture was when i had a great conversation with kaori, a japanese student in sydney, on one of the social gatherings i was in.
