Go to graduate school

I have finished applying to the UMKC bloch business school’s MBA program. I was not planning on perusing a masters degree is business, I was more interested in studying philosophy, anthropology, or religious studies… but that is life!!! Like forest’s mama always said “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get”. After much thought I am well past the point of taking classes and getting degrees that interest me; I need to focus on being practical when choosing a degree, one that will actually progress my career not just tickle my fancy! I am currently the general manager of a small business and an MBA would only bolster my resume and hopefully propel not only myself further but my company as well.

The deadline for admission was August 1st, and I have sent in all my material with 5 days to go! So I am hoping and wishing that I get accepted and am able to attend classes this fall. If not I will be very disappointed, and that is rare for me! I don’t remember the last time I tried/wanted something and didn’t get it!!! So I hope this isn’t the first time…

I just finished taking the GRE (the exam required for graduate admission) and scored a 310 out of a possible 340. Most of the graduate programs that I have looked at require a minimum of 300 so I meet the general requirement. My final GPA after graduation is a 3.1 and I am only required to have an overall GPA of 3.0!!! So as of now I have fulfilled all the requirements necessary to get into graduate school. Now I must focus on contacting the professors at the institutes in which I am interested in attending and make an appointment to visit the campus. I have my letters of recommendation lined up and need to work on my personal statement. Overall, I am well on my way to accomplishing my goal of going to graduate school :)
