build a house for Habitat for Humanity

I actually joined the board of the local habitat – so I will at least be helping on some level, if not actually getting my hands dirty in the short term. As I understand the basics, there is some training to do before you can work on a house. Not sure how that works, but it will come with time.

YES! I have always said that I easily can reconcile my conservative nature and my non profit service – I would rather help my neighbor than pay my government to help my neighbor.

Lately, my activities have been fun, but none have REALLY helped someone who needs it. The Riverfront Roar? A fun weekend and good for Marietta. The Sternwheel festival? Same thing.

Building a house for Habitat, though, seems to me to be ultimately gratifying for the home owner as well as the people who helped make it happen.
