complete my Ph.D.

I now have a doctoral committee put together, finished that today! Proposal will be in August, so I have some work to do.

Today I have put together my IDC, and I am going to go and speak to my prospective commitee members next week. I am thinking I am going to give my proposal sometime in August. I am hoping by then I will have the majority of my research started, that is each phase of it. I still have several models to develope, and then impliment this in a finite element code, but as soon as I have my original model working correctly this should go fast. Still keeping my on Decemember 07. 20 months left!

Found out last week I have passed my qualifying exams. I guess now I can call myself a Doctoral Candidate and I am officially in the program. Hope to have my Interdisciplinary Doctoral Committee together by the end of June 06. The class on nonlinear continuum mechanics is going well, and I hope to take a good controls class in the fall. Research is coming along, although I need to spend more time on it. I have been working too much at the family business, ISO certification. Not Fun, but the brunt of it is getting done, and then I will be able to focus more on finishing up my research. 645 days and counting!

Was told by my advisor I was half way there. Most of the leg work is done, and now I have to produce some results. Only 2 classes left to take, and I should be Dr. Jason Miller by May 2008. I haven’t put forth as much time as would have liked to the first half of my program, home life is quite busy. The last half I am dedicating my life to finishing as fast as possible. I really need to join the real world and start making some dollars.
