so I was really pissed about the fact that I couldn’t do the Costa Rica trip due to the fact that I don’t believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, a nice guy maybe, but no son of God, so instead, I’m heading down to Mississippi on July 15th to help build houses for Katrina victims.
A lot of people are getting Katrina fatigue, I mean, after all, it happened 11 months ago, but so much still needs to be done, and the government ain’t helping things. Gay marriage, flag burning, vacations and congressional pay raise is what our congress is talking about, and Bush is to busy bitching about an intelligence leak by the NY Times to receive more conservative backing for the upcoming election. Screw failing public education (3000 student drop out per day), screw border patrol, screw sky-rocketing gas prices, currency inflation, screw hurricane Katrina victims. They’re out of headlines, out of minds.
Two and a half billion dollars has literally been wasted on hurricane Katrina efforts; thousands of trailers for victims still sit unused in empty lots that charge $250,000 dollars a month to keep them there. That same amount of money could pay for the groceries of 265 low income families, or provide a months of child care for 417 single moms (my math may be off, but it should be roughly correct.) But to mention, that 2.5 billions dollars could be going to pay off the couple hundred billion dollars of debt we’re in due to the war in Iraq, but sadly, 2.5 billion is still just a drop in the bucket.
Or, the 2.5 billion dollars could be going to actually helping the Katrina victims, helping them get there lives back on track.
As if the government actually cares. Maybe the terrible floods they’re getting in D.C. is some wicked karma or something.
