My building manager said his answer has to be no for now….but not definately in the future. i’ve waited a week. can it be the future or is that annoying?

New Plan? 2 years ago

Ok, it’s smaller than a cat. It’s lungs are too tiny to bark (loudly) and it needs a crate to sleep / stay in when I’m not home because it will tire itself out as it doesn’t know the bounds of it’s own stamina. . . maybe?

Conclusion (for now) 2 years ago

It was Ahmad…A+ for creativity and trying to surprise me. Good thing he didn’t just get the puppy for me, because when I emailed my landlord, I got this email, followed by a phone call! Booo.

Hi Megan--Sorry there are no dogs allowed in the building-this is difficult to enforce-Many of the tenants have been in the building for a while and they are
grandfathered-also. if someone brings a dog in and it is not noticed for a period of time it gives the tenant some rights to keep the dog-this puts me in a difficult
situation- especially since I live in the building-- I technicallly have to tell some of these people that they have to get rid of their dogs—There is one instance that the
woman’s lease is not going to be renewed due to her dogs--Especially, with the new tenants we are being as strict as we can with the no dog policy-the Owner has been very clear about this--Some of the people who have “slipped” dogs in will be facing farly large rent increases – I would be glad to discuss the situation further with you-however I must be clear-—NO DOGS—jt

The Do YOU want a PUPPY email drama, part 4 2 years ago

Oh yes, got another puppy email. So after the whole you have until Monday at 5pm, today I get an email at 5pm saying ‘24 hours’. I wrote back saying what if I need more time because a puppy is a decade plus commitment…that, and the fact I am being guilted hardcore about someone giving me a puppy
a) because they like me, although we’re not dating
b) it is a massive commitment working live a slave and living in NYC
c) this would really change my life.
Do NOT get me wrong, I do want a puppy…but I also think it needs to be all the right circumstances for me too.

From: puppy dog
To: me, meganz Apr 6
Look at these two baby girls. Want one? Are you mommy material? What would you name her?

./puppy

They went so far as to attach pictures of two little puggle puppies, which are the kind I want. I wrote back: puppy, ask my landlord for me. Still no idea who this is and a little worried a puppy is going to show up at my door and my landlord will evict me for not asking.

Email #4
From: puppy dog
To: me April 7
Your landlord, why?

Your future puppy is 4 months old.

./puppy

I write: what shots does she need? is she well behaved?
landlord to make sure they will approve me as a tentant who can have a dog, but my puggle would be one of the smaller dogs in the building.

Email # 5
From: puppy dog
To: me, meganz 11:04 pm (10 hours ago)
Landlord needs you to make the request. Breeder has given her all the shots needed so far. She has a lot of energy and is still in the process of being house trained.

You must decide before Monday at 5pm. If not, puppy is gone forever.

Um….......what do I do?????

The Do YOU want a PUPPY email drama, part II 2 years ago

Email #1
From: puppy dog
To: me, meganz (cc’ed work and personal email Apr.4
Do you really want a puppy? Are you ready to be a mommy? Can you handle the responsibility? Can you handle all the expenses?

./puppy

I am confused as all heck who knows my work and personal email, and took the time to make a yahoo account just to do this. Three – Four people come to mind, with two candidates being the stronger. I choose to write back only one word, because I don’t know what is going on. ‘obviously’.

Email #2
From: puppy dog
To: me Apr 5
What would you really do if a puppy found it’s way to your doorstep. Would you give it up for adoption?

All questions below must be answered.

./puppy

I didn’t write back.

The Do YOU want a PUPPY email drama, part I 2 years ago

When I moved into my first apartment, my then boyfriend bought me a kitten. I found I was highly allergic and also never home. This was not fair to the kitten and he yelled at me, so I drove it 8 hours back to where I grew up and gave it to my loving friend who adores little Oscar.

I have ALWAYS wanted a puppy. I am not allergic to dogs. I still work an insane amount of time, and also live by myself. I’d like to be fair to a puppy and think I have a lot of love to give and we could enrich each other’s lives (awww). I am also coming to terms with the fact this means I can’t go out till all hours of the night, can’t not come home after work, need my landlord to approve this and need to exercise the little thing 3-4 times daily.

I still want a puppy. Puppy sitters, dog walkers, and puppy playgroup all cost money but would be worth it.

Did I mention my birthday is in about a week? Then the emails began…
