10 days until i move in for cross country preseason. I’m going to try to really put in some good mileage this last week and a half.

I made this goal last summer because during the school year I pretty much am running everyday with my team, so it makes the goal much easier. Now I’m out of school and I’ve taken about 3 weeks off since the end of the season (about 2 weeks too long haha). Next year I will be in college running cross country for my school and I really want to be one of the top runners. I’ve started a running log for the summer and I definitely think it will help me keep track of the goal. I started running yesterday “officially.”
Above is my running log. I made collages of the front and back because it was just a boring white cover. Oh and I have a new favorite website:
It’s better than your average route mapping website because it’s specifically for runners. You can even type in you zip code and find runs that other people have done in your neighborhood!
Our first cross country meet was at our home course, and I got my personal best on the course! 21:42! I wasn’t even feeling my best, so I think on a really good day I’d be able to run it faster.
Today we went to the trail, and I find myself liking trail runs more and more. We ran for 1:26:53!!!! And it felt great! It’s so much better than the road and feels great on your feet. I don’t even feel very tired when we get back, despite the longer mileage.
But the best part is that the coach brings lemonade and homemade muffins for after the run. Let me tell ya, you haven’t experienced how good lemonade is until you drink it after an hour and a half run. It’s Heaven! And the fact that trail runs are on a Sunday make it all the more a religious experience. haha
I forgot to mention this yesterday, but Coach appointed me captain of the cross country team! Me and the other senior on the team, that is, but I’m still very happy and proud. I’m very quiet, but I want to be a good leader, so I’m going to try really hard to step up.
My coach meets some of the older runners on Sunday mornings for lonnngg trail runs. They’re optional. I only went to one of them last year, and it was gruesome. So anyway, this Sunday is the first one, and I’m definitely going to go. I really want to be one of the top runners this year, so I really think I should do it.
...So much so that I don’t even know if I can count this as a goal anymore.
Cross country started today. It was good to see some familiar faces. I think I will keep it as a goal because cross country season will eventually end. Of course, then indoor track starts, but there is a good little break in between them. I’m excited about this season.
So obviously the goal says it all: I want to run everyday this summer. My objective is to come back to cross country season this coming fall and be one of the top three runners for my team. I’m not going to absolutely KILL myself over running every single day. Like if its horrible weather I’m probably not going to run, but I want to be very consistant. So far this summer I’ve been pretty bad. Like running 4 days in a row and then not running for a week and a half. So no more of that. Onward!
