Feeling anxious again 2 years ago

Not quite sure why but I’ve been feeling anxious again. It’s clear to me that work causes me to be anxious, but it’s not like I have a huge amount to do or anything. I think part of it is that I’m quite scared of the person I’m reporting to on a particular project. She’s capricious and quite a bully, turning on the charm one minute, then being really aggressive the next. I’m afraid that she’ll turn on me. I need to go away and CBT this…

All my life I’ve always worried and fretted about things. Probably comes from having very anxious parents. I used to feel breathless a lot and thought I had asthma.

A couple of years ago I was so stressed out at work that I became extremely anxious and clinically depressed. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Proaz helped me a lot. At least now I can recognise when I’m becoming anxious (start to feel breathless) and I can do some breathing exercises to calm myself down. I also try to do some yoga after work to let go of the day.

I don’t think I will ever be completely free of anxiety (I think it’s in my genetic make-up!) but being aware of it and having techniques for controlling it is a good start.
