Pick-up sticks!

Today Anna and I planned an afternoon of watching movies…and then the power went out.

She suggested we play Pick-up Sticks while we waited. So we did. That game is still fun!

Sunday morning...

...they came to me and asked if I wanted to join the game of Yahtzee they were setting up.

AWESOME. I totally bombed, I lost SO BAD, but only to Braden…I beat Seth. Not sure where Nate came in.

I gotta say, NO XBOX ON THE SABBATH was a GREAT idea!

Goal change,

from “become good at jacks with my kids.” Really, that’s what this goal was about—playing together, old-school style. I’ve been trying to clear away the dinner dishes a couple times a week at least, and lay out a board or card game or something.

Tonight

the whole family played jacks—Braden’s choice. It was pretty fun, esp. watching Anna figure out ways to get around the rules (which are really too hard for her at this point!)

Old-fashioned game

We’ve got a couple full sets of jacks. My kids have played a bit. I think it’d be fun to really get good at playing, and help my kids to play well also.
