Buy an iPod.

I haven’t really used it yet, but I like to pretend I’m more of an optimist than I actually am, so I’ll say it’s worth it and pretend I don’t have private misgivings about whether I do actually need one in my life or not. I even bought a purple hard case so I can wear it round my neck and listen to painfully dull Japanese lessons about “this camera over here? No, that one next to you” while I’m out jogging. Can’t wait.

i actually went into town yesterday specifically in order to fulfill this goal, but when I got to the electronics shop, they didn’t have a single ipod left!! At first I thought it was the language barrier but he repeated it several times and even my Japanese stretches to understanding “I’m sorry, we don’t have any”. wtf?? considered ordering one from them but decided to go to Sapporo on Saturday instead and buy one there. Seriously, what kind of shop doesn’t have ipods? Shocked and appalled my friends, shocked and appalled.
