Okay, I was in a pretty materialistic mood yesterday, so I didn’t even touch on the other facets of this goal. I went for a wonderful, mind-clearing walk along the beach afterwards, and I thought that it would be nice to have achieved my ideal self (give or take) by my 21st birthday on February 1st.
One of my main anxieties is that I dwell more than I do, even though I’m entering my 20s and should instead be living the fuck out of my life. I roughly want my life to focus less on the negative, and more on my passions and personal goals:
-Love! This is the reason for living.
-Being comfortable in my own skin. I admit that clothing is important to me, but even more important is the way I wear them. I want to be able to look and feel good in my entire wardrobe.
-Comedy. I need to chill a bit and laugh more easily. I want to consume more comedy because it’s one of the best cures for depression.
-Languages. I love learning and teaching language. I don’t have a formal teaching-related job right now, but this is something I want to pursue. I also want to achieve ‘conversational confidence’ in more foreign languages, as well as expanding my already decent French skills.
-Music. I want to learn guitar, sing a bit more, and discover great new music.
-Be literary. I want to get published from time-to-time and be well-read

-Brightly coloured scarves
-Black and white gingham shirt/dress/tunic
-Ankle-length black tights
-Better, more flattering t-shirts
-Jewellery
-Cute, comfortable and veratile flats
-A smaller handbag
-Good quality casual white button-up shirt
-Good quality black singlets
-More red clothes!
-Oversized knit jumper. I used to have a greyish navy men’s YSL that made every outfit feel so effortlessly stylish.
-Black or dark grey blazers
-Juicy couture tracksuit – currently a no-go because the cropped hoodie makes me look preggers! But I love the popping colours, comfortable look, and tongue-in-cheek trashiness of the idea of owning one.
-Headbands
-Hair flowers
-Long, wavy, rock chick hair!
-Good, thick, chic eyebrows
-Cuffs
Other general inspiration:
-Charlotte Gainsbourg
-(Or pretty much any famous French woman under 40.)
-Carine Roitfeld
-Sienna Miller
-Kate Moss
-Wino! I’m not joking, just look at the pictures from before she was famous, even up until when Blake went to jail. She had curves and life left, and amazing style.
-My Korean housemates! They can spend $80 at a cheap girly shop and put together a head-turning outfit that doesn’t look trashy at all.

I will try to hold off buying new clothes until I am size 8-10 with less excess weight around my mid-riff. It’s tempting to buy new things, especially pants, but I’m unhappy with my current weight, so it would be a waste to buy things if I actually succeed with my new plan.
Hopefully I can get to my goal in time for the Autumn-Winter 2008, and buy accordingly. Whilst I enjoy the sunshine, especially living near Bondi, mild weather makes me feel liberated in terms of dressing. The only thing I miss in the cold is wearing Havaianas. I would wear them 365 days a year if I could!
