Fall in love

I’ve been meaning to add it back for a long time, because I haven’t really given it up. I do believe that the ability to care for and deepen your connection with another person is key in life.

Right now, I would say there is someone I care for, but current circumstances are such that it’s difficult to proceed. He’s a sweetheart, don’t get me wrong, and I won’t go into any details here.

And I also say now that sometimes circumstances are beyond our control and there is nothing a person can do about that. If I care about a person, I just continue to be there for them in the capacity that I can. That’s not just because he’s a man and I’m romantically interested That would be true of any person who’s important in my life. I tend to be there for the ones that matter to me in this world.

And barring that, with all circumstances at some point in our favor, both parties must be willing. I can’t drag another person into love with me, and I by no means wish to try. If it will work, it will just do so naturally.

Vague enough for you? Oh, the details may provide for good reading, but I don’t know that my angel would appreciate that.

so I was at Starbucks and two young gentlemen were watching me very obviously…and I do mean young…we have a college here in Whittier and they were obviously students there of the typical age for that..early 20s….

(I think men of all ages really appreciate my big a*s above anything…)

So one of them comes over and he’s trying to get my number…LOL…very cute…and he starts complimenting me in many ways…anyway, I tell him no, thanks..I’m old enough to be your….very much older sister….LOL…etc…

So he stays and tries to convince me a little longer….and one of the things he compliments are my eyebrows (OK then!)...which immediately reminded me that I’m way overdue to wax them…thanks for the reminder son!

So when I got home tonight I did some various clean-up. :0) A woman can never be too fabulous, darlings!

I’ve gotten to know R. quite a bit more this month. He has shown me many different sides of his personality.

For example, he showed me his ability to feel compassion for others when he went to the emergency room in the middle of the night to see his friend.

He showed me that he is warm-hearted as he remembers so many people this time of year….he has been shopping and shopping and shopping for all the people he cares about.

R. would never yell “I’m f*cking eating!” to me on the phone. There are other men out there that would and I don’t want to talk to them. Ever.

R. showed me his intelligence when he talked with me about physics and had the upper hand in the conversation.

I admire him…...sometimes you get to know someone and that admiration goes away….but not with R.

As far as romance is concerned…..we’re so brand new…..only time will tell. We can just take our time and see how we feel….continue if we are happy and if we are not..well….at this moment I am happy when he calls me and when we see each other and when he kisses me and I hope he is too.

I wish for R. a warm and wonderful Christmas with his family (he is traveling to see several people). I have a Christmas prayer set aside just for him…not about him and me….but just for him…..

Then I must say I am very impressed indeed! Thank you R.

And I have a compliment for you. I was reading through all my history here and I noted that a year or so ago E. tried to introduce me to someone….I don’t even remember who that is but I declined and wrote here:..”I can’t do that, it’s E’s. friend”....didn’t want to date friends of friends….probably wasn’t the least bit interested anyway.

But for some reason, I didn’t hesitate when he asked me out on your behalf. My how things change! So you see, you are interesting to ladies, that is the compliment.

One posting is too skimpy to deal with the topic of R. So 10 random things about R. He may read this and if he does and wants me to take it down, he can just tell me to remove it and I will.

1. His voice is raspy and I like that
2. He is very intelligent…not a dumb ass who can’t keep a conversation going.
3. He’s has a lot of friends.
4. He has a big furry kitty named after someone in one of his favorite movies.
5. He’s a hero.
6. He likes to eat the correct ratio of protein to carbs for optimal performance.
7. When he smiles his eyes smile too.
8. His driveway is not made for stilettos, but how can I stop wearing stilettos? I can’t.
9. He plays a lot of basketball and is just a wee bit competitive (did I say a wee bit? That’s an understatement. Never underestimate the competitive nature of men, ladies).
10. hmmmm..one more thing, huh? R. makes me smile and so far, I am enjoying getting to know him.

I went out last night with R. the fireman…that’s not all he is but it is one piece of his identity…..a sweet and interesting human being who really got my buttons clicking….we went to see Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D..it was way cool..and then we went to Mel’s Diner and had burgers and THE BEST strawberry shake I’ve ever had. We talked a lot and listened to a lot of music…he’s really into Radiohead. Then we stopped outside of his previous station for a minute…since we were in the neighborhood. (Ladies, aren’t firemen just THE most darling people in the world?)

He’s cool people. I had fun. And I kissed him too…on the first date! I just sensed good people and I wanted a kiss and so did he so kisses happened..it was fun.

And he is so wonderful. But he is a complete secret..nobody would ever guess. Who knows what the future holds…I have no idea. But today, Aug. 15, I am enjoying feeling in love.

Because I’m in love with tamales. Especially the cheese and jalapeno ones. I’ve been eating them all week.

I’ll tell you what, if the tamale lady wasn’t married I’d marry her. And I’m not even gay! I’d do just about anything for a steady flow of homemade tamales.

Gosh, I don’t know if this goes under LOVE as we are only platonic friends, but I do feel like I’m walking on air when I am with him. I truly adore him and he seems to have a lovely time as well.

I call him my Favorite, il Favorito, and he is by far, of all the people I know from work who are from all the different countries…he is the best…

I had such a beautiful time with him and at the end I didn’t want to let go of him…we were clasped together for 10 minutes and I loved every bit of it, but no romantic kisses…because at the end we are platonic friends from opposite sides of the world and that will not change.

He is off to the Bay area, and back to his country on his own continent, and off to another country on a third continent as he will be on assignment…

I hope our visit reminded him that he has a friend in LA and that he is fly and fab-u-lous!
