do more cross stitch

It’s silly, but I take it personally when someone outbids me on ebay!!! LOL
I did win a box of 31 cross stitch magazines last week. They came today. I’m enjoying browsing and planning future projects. Who knows, I might actually do one or two. The mags are from the 80s and 90s and I remember many of the projects because I used to subscribe to a couple of mags back then. And I’m really thrilled because after looking through about 15 mags, I stumbled on a chart that’s been on my mind lately. I was reading somewhere about petite stitching and remembered one from way back that I had wanted to do but had no idea which mag/month/year to look in. Now I have it and plan to work it after doing some wolves for my son. Oh, over this past wkend, I finished Rapunzel for my daughter.

Finally, got these kitties displayed(didn’t like the card that came with). Two ready to finish frames from Michael’s($1 each) covered with scrapbook paper and ribbon added for accent. I think it turned out pretty good considering I didn’t have the cross stitch pieces with me to match colors or the frame opening(good thing I hadn’t trimmed them any smaller).

It’s only half of the free kit that came with Cross Stitcher mag(issue 184), but just had to share coz he’s so cute. I started the other part and then realized something mighty important. I was going to run out of one color. Upon closer inspection of the pics, it seems I’m using the darker color where they used the lighter. Perhaps it’s a misprint or else my idea of light golden brown and golden brown is different than theirs.

I’d like to be stitching right about now but my kids are here sleeping. My son has taken over the couch where I stitch..lol. I’m almost ready to start the backstitch on the peacock project. My next project will be the Kitten Tales card kit that came with an issue of CrossStitcher. It’s just so darn cute, though I may frame it instead of making it into the card. I have noone to send it to that I feel would ‘appreciate’ it. Besides, I want it for myself!

I was going to let my daughter pick out something from my mags for me to stitch for her but there are some that look a bit time consuming and I’m not so much in the mood to do something too big right now. So, I showed her Rapunzel(the one you did BigMutha) and she liked it. She wants the hair done in brown, though…lol.

And have I mentioned that I just love those cross stitch mags from the UK? There’s something I want to do in every issue I’ve looked at but I haven’t done one single thing yet. The kitten card and Rapunzel will be the first ones.

You can’t tell from the pic but there is gold thread on the tail and around the frame. Gives it a nice sparkle.

I’ve been on a roll. Lots of stitching in the last 2 weeks. I’ve even been taking this project to work with me to do during lunch hour(I eat quickly so I have more time to stitch!). I got lucky with this one. The blue background and the brown outside of the ‘frame’ is all half-stitch.

I did this ferret for my sister. It will go in a clear acrylic coaster. It needs more of something, though. I may add a saying like “Home is where the ferrets are.”

Finally finished this one! Ok, there is a little background stitching around her head to do and I just noticed a flower that didn’t get backstitced..lol. I think I finally got the hang of french knots.
