stop buying things i dont need.

I would have to say that I do still buy things that I don’t need. Nobody needs DVDs, CDs, or that extra pair of pants. But I think that purchases like those are alright, as long as they are extremely limited, and you know you will use the items that you have bought!

So. Time for a big 43things update, I think. This goal is doing well I think. I’ve been so busy with school + other activities that I haven’t gone out to buy anything much really. Except for clothes, which were sort of overdue anyway (i.e. more than 2 pairs of jeans that I can’t wear anyway b/c they’re practically dead). I’ve also bought music off of iTunes, which totally doesn’t count b/c a) it’s music, b) it’s off iTunes so it’s not using up paper, ink, plastic, etc. (except for the whole burning-to-CD part) c) I had the $$ on my iTunes account already, so I had to spend it… okay, that’s not really an excuse.

All I’ve bought recently are presents for my friends. And most of them were at least sort of practical, and at least they’ll all get used. Food, rings, a puzzle, a toy (A REALLY COOL TOY. BEYOND COOL.), and a book. Not junk I don’t think. And I bought my mom a bookmark. And umm… no useless trinkets though, which was the whole point of this goal.

I know that I don’t need a lot of the things I buy. But at the same time, I do use most of the things I buy. I buy a lot of journals and pens because I love to write. I get most of my books from the library. I think the main thing you have to watch out for is buying little trinkets, ornaments, that are solely for decoration, and they just sit around getting dusty. I think I personally also have to watch the clothing that I buy, because I buy most of my clothes new, even though I should buy them secondhand. I just hate looking in secondhand stores—it drives me crazy.
