the no destination bit is proving a little difficult

we did a massive road trip with no time frame over christmas and new years, it started on christmas eve in tauranga, christmas day, 4 1/2 hr drive to wanganui – where i successfully managed to achieve my christmas day goal of eating dinner at the Wing Wah Chinese restaurant! Much to BF’s disgust thou, he wanted to find something else, however after doing a drive down every street in Wanganui…surprise! no place else open!So Egg Fu Yung it was!

On boxing day night our friend took us to this remote beach on the west coast, black sand and all, we drank a bottle of red wine and watched the sun go down. Magical.

Next day drive to Ahu Ahu Rd, just outside of New Plymouth, via the surf highway (including the famous Stent Rd). There we met a whole heap of our Tarakaki friends, we had beach fun, bbq, fire, camping, and was great fun. Next day drove back to hamilton to see our cat (somone was feeding him, but we just wanted to make sure he was ok) then on to Taurange for BF to work, camped out on P’s couch for a couple of days, Successfully achieved my New Year’s goal of being pissed off my tree at the Mount at New Years. Had a ball, even thou was surrounded by 12yr olds. made me feal really old, & probably will never do it again.

Camped another couple of days at I’s place, then drove home to check the cat again, before driving to Whitianga to go camping at the beach for a few days with Mount friends. Was fantastic…i have discovered that i love camping…we are going to heaps more of it this year.

Then drove home to check on cat, (and collect shoes that i had forgotten), then on to mount to be a bridesmaid at friends wedding on last Saturday. We were so keen to get home to our own beds that we drove home after we cleaned up the reception. Huge mission, but so much fun.

I just love this whole road trip concept. It’s great. Only problem was that after we had been living in our car for that long, it was an absolute pigsty!

But we enjoyed it so much that we are planning a mission around east cape in a couple of weeks…
