Amazing book Avital recommended to me that I read after all of the drama in my life this summer. It made me want to travel the world. It made me cry. It made me smile. I loved it.

Went on a chic lit binge. I’d rank these as follows:
1. Confessions of a Shopaholic … this was funny.
2. Nanny Diaries … certainly a page turner, but I hated the characters.
3. The Devil Wears Prada … listened to abridged version on tape and found it pretty bad and forgettable … still, I will probably see the movie because of Meryl Streep!
by Shari Goldhagen.
I bought this at Target because Richard Ford wrote the blurb on the cover. I’m just about done and it’s been a great read. I like that she’s a woman writing mostly from the male POV. It’s unusual to see that these days.
by Alicia Erian is a coming of age novel that ties together themes of child abuse, racism, sexuality, ignorance, and most importantly perhaps, love. I really enjoyed the first person narrative told by 13 year old Jasira.
Re-read large portions of these for class this week. Very provocotive, especially the Schor book, for me.
