Moving to a part-time, lower pay job with the intent of being happier. So, costly projects may need to be put off. Or, hey, maybe I’ll be wildly successful at freelancing and we’ll be able to afford all this stuff after all. We’ll see.
Fireplace: still half done
Raised garden bed: built, filled and about 30% planted.
make wall art for: downstairs bath, laundry room
paint, paint paint: have not! But, this is something we could prb. afford even without much $
make bedroom curtains: nope
make nicer incense set up for bathroom, including box and matches
throw pillows: made but need nicer cases. Like, way nicer.
concrete countertops: we gotta go DIY
New door for bathroom: nothing, could be costly
New desk for computer: nothing
Change our boring old white blinds for something a little nicer
wood flooring installation: no where in near future.
covered patio: will cost about $230 before getting shade fabric or virginia creeper.
lamps, lighting, fluorescent fixture replacement:??? not even a clue where to start
vines on front: so far nothing
Tree out front: going OK, made a guild for it
fix bathtub: need J to do this, which means I will have to bug him until he does it or shows me what to do. Fuuuun.

New things:
we got the wood to build our raised garden bed out back. Also I am currently working on planting some flowering bulbs by the curb so our house looks nicer out front too. I guess those are more yard work than decorating the house, but whatever.
I think bf is on board with getting our house nicer. There’s a lot to do. New door for bathroom, new desk for computer, change our boring old white blinds for something a little nicer, paint ANYTHING….

I’ve been here about a week and I’ve refinished a floor and painted one wall. Everything else, no plan even. Where to start??? Anyone know how to begin something like this? Pick a room, or start coming up with ideas and see what you can afford, or what?

Well since we are about to buy a house I basically will be starting over on this. Which is fine, it’s really not like I did much on it anyway, and in a place we own I can actually change stuff I don’t like… right now if I don’t like something I’m just stuck with it in a lot of cases. Our new place has all white walls, so it’s like a blank canvas. It’s just much bigger and a lot to think about.

They are still hanging out. I don’t know, it’s hard for me to get rid of or replace things that are still perfectly useable; it seems wasteful to me. But, on the plus side I hung some coat hangers on the wall so our coats wouldn’t be all over the place. The are wrought-iron style and they match the house pretty nice, so I’m pleased with myself there. Also my bf, surprisingly enough, got on a tear about keeping the desk tidy (WTF did that come from?) and got a bunch of organizing drawers for the office stuff… out of character, but, hey… I’m not complaining!

Just bought a pretty new shower curtain, it’s blue.. instead of the used-to-be-clear-now-is-yellow one that came with the place and is now covered with orange slime no matter how often I wash it…
SO that’s an improvement.

I will set a concrete goal to get rid of something that’s ugly in my home each week. First up; pretty hampers instead of the plastic one from (I wish I was exaggerating here) high school!
