Not been keeping track  — 4 months ago

But I feel OK about how much I’m watching lately. I’ll watch when I’m doing something else that’s stationary, like lifting weights or sewing or painting my nails. But in general I’m not just sitting and watching, which I like. Plus I watch news or documentaries which I can feel OK about. I have also gotten my bf to turn it off for one entire night and he seems up for repeating it. It’s kind of by default that I’m/we’re watching less. By the time we go for a walk or play some tennis, then cook some dinner, and take care of household stuff, it’s already like 8 pm at least and we won’t have much time to watch at that point. So I think this is going well enough for me to call it done. Or at least stop thinking about it.

about 2.5  — 5 months ago

I’ll say about 2.5 hours last night, but I was working on the computer for part of it. It’s hard for me to calculate how long I’m watching since it’s on for my bf and I’ll zone in and out. Hmmm. So sometimes I’m not sure how much I watch it.

Step one  — 5 months ago

Hasn’t happened. I was going to track how much I actually watch but then I got sick over the weekend. So I was in front of the TV all day so I’d stay still and rest but I didn’t watch much because I slept about 20 hours. So I’m starting anew. I will track my TV for 2 weeks and really try to see how much I’m watching, then base my “less” goal off that. Hard to do less when you don’t know where you’re starting.
OK I will write tomorrow about how much time i spend watching tonight.

Again  — 5 months ago

Too busy to watch last night. My bf had it on but I was baking for work, helping a friend, working out, getting freelance work done, and cleaning up. I may have a bit watched while I ate, and a little news in the morning.
Wed 2/13: 1 hour watched

Watched very little last night  — 5 months ago

I had a bunch of projects going so I didn’t have time.
I think I’m going to track how much I watch for like 2 weeks, maybe seeing how much of my life really is just sucked away will motivate me to put that time to something better.

Well it's less...  — 5 months ago

At least my bf doesn’t turn it on immediately when he gets home until bedtime. He waits a few hours. So it’s progress at least. And I’ll do other stuff (if I have the energy) while he watches. I think we’re getting there, and the arrival of spring will probably make it even easier because we can be outside.

A question about this goal:
My partner watches CONSTANTLY. Without interfering with his choice to watch TV, how can I break away when it's always on?  — 7 months ago
This is going well...the anti-flip  — 9 months ago

Instead of flipping, I do other stuff during commercials if there’s a program on that I really want to see. If there’s nothing on, instead of flipping, I don’t watch. (What a concept!) So far, so good. I will keep moving in the right direction.

I think I have been  — 9 months ago

I made a rule to at least not watch any reruns. That’ll cut down for a while at first. It’s really hard not to watch when my bf has it on and I”m in the room, but I am trying.

Read last night instead  — 11 months ago

Last night I read a while and watched a documentary instead of trash TV shows, or stuff I’ve already seen. Only a tiny bit but it’s a start.
