Unforeseen circumstances prevented me from getting anywhere close. but oh well, I’m not really all that concerned. I’ve got completely different kinds of goals these days.

I’ve set up a pretty strict financial plan for myself, starting this January. I figure December is a pretty hectic month, and I still have a bunch of Christmas presents to buy, so I won’t really start organizing this until January.

I’m going to cancel the savings account I have under my mother’s name and, using the $1000 I have in the bank now, buy a Certificate of Deposit with a term of 12 months (5.4% interest). Then, I’ll place whatever money I have leftover at home (should be about 500+) into my own account. I’m going to limit my spending to 100-200 a month, which shouldn’t be difficult at all, and then save everything else. I figure that’ll leave me with about $200-$400 a month in savings. Once my account reaches $1500, I’ll put it in a money market account for higher interest rates.
So, barring any unforseen circumstances or emergencies, I should be able to easily secure $5000 by the time I turn 18.
