It’s become apparent that kah is kicking my ass on this one. It’s just more of her “thing” ;) I decided that I’m just going to read her entries and do a lazy version of what she’s doing. Hey, that whole fear of commitment thing doesn’t just affect my relationships you know :P
So here’s my Lazy Ass Mofo Detox Plan TM:
Regarding Water
the kah way – (http://www.43things.com/entries/view/1640625) “Drink plenty of good quality water; aim for 10 glasses a day” and “Avoid bottled water, which is a hint of what’s to come further down the line. Essentially, plastic is evil, so anywhere you can avoid eating or drinking from it, do so.” and “sipping hot water with fresh lemon” and “Start the day with two big glasses of water.” and “Hydrate inside and out! I’m going to do this by taking more baths, at least once per week.”
the mdm way – I will drink three 24-ounce bottles of water a day. That would be usually filtered (if I’m at work), cold water, probably not including lemon, and from my plastic Nalgene bottle.
Regarding Sugar
the kah way – (http://www.43things.com/entries/view/1640625) “Eliminate high fructose corn syrup (HFCS).” and “Be on the look out for other hidden sugars. My goal is to eliminate those things that I don’t feel require sugar for me to enjoy them and keep the sugars in the things we do buy organic and natural” and “We have decided to eliminate honey from our diet (based on our veganism) and are no longer purchasing things that contain it.” and “No more candy binges, a particular bug-a-boo of mine – to facilitate that, I’m going to type up her explanation of what sugar does to your body and post it as a reminder to keep me on track.” and “No aspartame, saccharin or sucralose.” and “Research other ways to use miso; Make a big batch of miso broth each week with which to begin meals.” and “Eat lots of fresh garlic” and “Continue to abstain from diet soda” and “Limit alcohol consumption” AND “Journaling exercise: ‘what areas of my life are keeping me from feeling happy?’ (i.e. where am I lacking ‘sweetness’ in my life that I may be filling in with food) Another option is to think/write about your earliest childhood memories involving sweets and then the various ways you may have used sugar in your life to make you feel better.”
the mdm way – Uhm… look at ingredient lists and note when HFCS is present. And maybe bite my tongue and sit on my hands when I want to grab that fourth/fifth/twelfth cookie.
Regarding Caffeine
the kah way – (http://www.43things.com/entries/view/1672788) “Get 8 hours of sleep a night; have a consistent bed and wake-up time” and “Create tea bedtime ritual” and “Remove tv from bedroom” and “Switch to (remain at, actually) green tea and slowly wean to herbal in the am – that was my original plan, but I’m thinking I simply like my green tea too much at this point to give it up. and I am getting some great benefits from that one cup of morning without my sleeping being affected.” and “Pick a yoga pose of the week to do at work and elsewhere to re-energize when feeling sluggish.” and “this week’s journaling exercise is cool: make a list of the things that cause you stress and the ways you physically and mentally react to them, being very honest with yourself about the reasons for your irritation.”
the mdm way – Don’t add any caffeine to my daily one cup of organic, fair trade, soy-milked and Splenda-d coffee. Keep off the Sugarfree Redbull before the gym, too.
You’re awesome, Onkelo! :D
