A few handfuls of jelly beans on Friday gave way to petits four and cheesecake Friday night, followed by cheesecake and chocolate medallions on Saturday night. My weight’s up 2 pounds, from 152 to 154. So much for moderation in all things. Looks like it’s back to eliminating all sweets.

The toughest task is walking past the black jelly beans on my secretary’s desk. When I first gave up sugar, she actually put a small box of the little buggers on MY desk (she was helping me truly realize the value of Lent, I guess). I definitely agree with a previous entry that recommends fresh fruit as an alternative. It really does seem to help.
In keeping with “moderation in all things,” I’m not worried about eliminating all vestiges of refined sugar from my diet. It’s enough to stay from the handfuls of jelly beans, cookies, or Little Debbie products that I used to snatch from the cubbard and shove into my mouth.
Deep within, my heart laments the sad situation that leads me to find joy in such a trivial act…but what the heck, I’ll take what I can get.
Sounds obscene, doesn’t it? But they’re awesome. I particularly like the dark chocolate covered ones. Only had about 10 today…unfortunately, they’re not sugar free. But they sure tasted great!
Tomorrow…I mean it…right now, anyway.
After I worked out, I did have a Carnation Instant Breakfast. But that’s it…promise.
It had nuts in it, and nuts are good for you…aren’t they?
Not exactly all sugar. Just want to eliminate refined sugar. And no hair splitting either. You can drown in minutiae if you’re not careful. My vision is a diet higher in quality carbohydrates and lower in sweets.
