That was a lot more work getting them up than I thought it would be! They’re right up over her cube, and visible throughout the room, but they’re not in her way. I like the results.
There are only 9 of the 10 garlands up there because the 10th garland is of itty bitty cranes—they’re hanging on the wall of her cube.

We did it—we’ve got over 1,000 cranes. I’ll take more pics & post them when I’ve got them strung into garlands.
This was a lot of fun! Although it was easier with some help. ;)

Moving right along… A few fewer people today, but that’s ok. We’re still ahead of schedule, and should finish up by Thursday. Now I just have to figure out how to hang them from the drop ceiling over her cube!

Day 6—want to have 600 done by the end of today to stay on schedule. We’ve got
570
and we haven’t even had the lunch time folding frenzy! A bunch of people made cranes over the weekend. This is fantastic! :D

This is the 300 we had as of Friday afternoon. Can’t wait to see what we’ve got tomorrow…

And I’m done doing cranes until tomorrow! :D By the way—just a message for all you origami paper makers—those all white, tissue paper sheets you put between the groups of paper in a 100 pack? THEY DON’T COUNT!!! :p Yeah, they can be folded just like origami paper, but that’s like 7-11 closing for an hour every other day, and justifying it by saying they’re not open 24 hours in a row! Wankers! :E
Anyway, looks like we got up around 310 on Friday, that plus my 95 (grumble) puts us a little over 400. I know a few people are folding over the weekend, so hopefully we’ll get up to around 450-500 on Monday morning.

Looks like I’ve single handedly destroyed the productivity of my group this afternoon. :D Had a pretty good crane folding session at lunch today, although we only got about 40 done. People took paper home last night, and brought 10, 20, whatever they finished in. I finished 27 last night… Moving right along—Now I’m sure we’ll be done by next Friday.

Well, we’ve done pretty good over the last 24 hours or so. Had one girl who’s done it before—she made 1000 cranes for her parents. She threw in 22 itty bitty cranes she’d had for a while! :D I’m loving all the help I’m getting from my coworkers on this. I looked into having an email announcement sent out for the entire office, and have a crane folding session on Monday during lunch. Has to get past upper management first… I’m hoping it’ll be ok. There’s about 200 people in our office here in Phoenix, so if we get a dozen or so people consistently helping out every day next week, then getting through 1000 cranes shouldn’t be a problem. I’m amazed there’s a shot this might get done on time! :D

OK, that’s a complete lie. :p Almost—The friend I’m doing the for is a coworker, so I guilt tripped everybody in my group at work into making cranes at lunch. :D It was a lot of fun—I just sent out an email, saying that I had origami paper and I’d be in one of the conference rooms at noon—show up if you want to help out. About a half dozen people showed up—it was great! Nobody knew how to fold them, so a lot of time was spent just going over the whole process. Just by myself, I can do a large crane in about 4-5 minutes, so hopefully tomorrow at lunch, with a bunch of people doing it, we can get maybe 50-60 done in an hour. We’ve even got people in our Tucson office that want to help out—they’re going to send their cranes up next week. My goal is to get all 1000 done by March—wish me (us!) luck!
This is turning out to be a lot of fun—I’m glad 43things gave me the idea for it!
