It’s the first of March tomorrow and I’m going to the gym. I was there yesterday, I’ll be there on Saturday, I’ll be there on Tuesday, and so on…

Now onto a new fitness goal! :D

not just for the body 2 years ago

I’ve been at the gym thrice a week for the past two weeks and it’s been going really well for me. Apart from feeling better from the exercise, there’s a giddy feeling of accomplishment after every session, and I’ve also been sharper and more alert lately.

Apparently, it’s not just good for the body but good for the brain, too.

I’ll be ready to cross this off the list come March. By then it should be a habit.

i have muscles in places where i never thought i had them 2 years ago

I am aching all over. The trainer put me on a high-rep program so I’m doing three sets/twenty reps of everything. I’m amazed that I’m still alive. It’s a good ache though, of the healthy variety. This one’s telling me there’s progress, so I’m still all good. However, pain is still pain no matter which way I put it.

I’m not going out today unless someone volunteers to carry me around on piggyback. I’ll just stay home and take it easy.

getting my rear in gear 2 years ago

I’ve pretty much neglected this goal for a while, but I’ve got updates! I went back to the gym this week (I’ve been there Monday and Wednesday, and again tomorrow) and I’ve been walking the days in between. I like the way this new schedule is coming along: three days at the gym and the days I don’t go there, I do something active.

Another thing is that now I’m doing this all for me, which is the best reason to do anything at all!

last week/this week 3 years ago

I wasn’t able to work out last week, my bad, but I started again yesterday with the 20-minute workout disk to ease myself back into the routine. Surprisingly, I found that 20 minutes wasn’t enough (which I take as an improvement in my horrible state of fitness), so today I did the 20-minute cardio tape plus the ab workout. Tomorrow I’ll go do 40 full minutes of cardio, to see how that works out.

Before beginning the workout today, I was feeling a bit down in the dumps and a little angry, so I guess I punched and kicked much harder than usual. I feel better now. :) I think I want this to be my new drug of choice. :D

this week's report 3 years ago

I’ve done 20 minutes of Turbo Jam four times this week (four and a half if I’d count the interrupted session earlier, I did about ten minutes). On the day I didn’t, which was Wednesday, I walked a lot. Considering that I’ve been completely sedentary these past many months, I’d say this week has been a success.

So far, I’m seeing that the key for me is doing something that I like and I do happen to like what I’m doing now. The only downside is that my entire body has been achy all week, but in a good, Yeah This’ll Be Good For When I Get Into That Bikini Way.

The gym thing wasn’t working out too well due to big schedule changes, so I picked up a copy of Turbo Jam which I tried today. It’s a good thing that I like it a lot, it’s a high intensity, low impact kickboxing-type workout. I did it a couple of hours ago and I can feel parts of my body getting a good ache.

I’d like to get into fighting form really soon, and this would really help.

selling out 3 years ago

I finally admitted that I can’t do this by myself at home, so I went to the gym today and signed up. I’ll be going at least thrice a week and working out with a trainer for about two months. If this doesn’t get me back into the habit, I don’t know what else will!

back in the saddle 3 years ago

Got myself one of those exercise balls, some bands, and heavier free weights. Also getting a new programme! :) Something old, something new, nothing borrowed, something blue. This should add some enthusiasm in what has become a rather boring routine.

schedule disruptions 4 years ago

My long hours at work are definitely getting in the way of exercise, so as Deni had suggested, this week I’ve started taking thirty-minute walks around the mall in the afternoon when we’re all getting to have some downtime. It’s been good so far, I feel much better than I have in the past weeks, and I’ll see if I can get to walk in the mornings as well. I hope to figure out when I can fit in the strength training again.

Working is hazardous to one’s health!
