Yes, this was definitely worth doing! I love having no litter box.
It took a couple months to fully train her, but the results are fabulous! Now if only she could learn to flush…

Okay so we had a set back. A couple of accidents on the living room floor. Yuk. :( This was after the hole in the aluminum pan was about half the size of the pan. I guess she got a little nervous that there was no room for any litter. Which sent little miss kitty to spend her overnights locked in the bathroom, since she’d do it while i was sleeping. Now we’re back on track. The aluminum pan is entirely gutted. Just the frame remains. All her business goes directly into the toilet. I think the remains of the pan may be a comfort thing, so I’m going to wait a few days and then remove it and see if she’s okay with that.
My 5 year old son woke me up this morning telling me that Sophie was going poop in the toilet! :) Yaaayyy!!! But he said that she had all her paws in the litter, not on the seat. So we’ll have to work on that. And the aluminum pan is a little shaky in there…I don’t know how to stabalize it more. It’s the closest size I could find. Anyway, just happy that we’re going in the right direction!
...I hope.
I just put the aluminum pan with litter in the toilet…Sophie looked at me like I was crazy.
Let’s hope this works!!
Okay today I raised the box about one inch. Seems so insignificant, but will take it slow like they say to. (I placed a small phone book under the box.)
