I joined LA Roadrunners in Venice and I am training for the 2009 Los Angeles Marathon in March. I had a knee injury so I haven’t ran for 2 weeks, but I should be back at it on Saturday for the group run, 7 miles.

I stayed off my foot for a few weeks, and it seems to be getting better. I ran 3 miles yesterday and it didn’t protest. So now I’m hoping I still have a chance at running the 09 LA Marathon. I was going to run today, but at 9am it was already 90 degrees, so I decided to put it off until 5am tomorrow morning.
So the LA Marathon came and went, and I have just been trying to focus on my plans to run it for 2009. I haven’t been running long distances for the last few months, but I have been working on speed at bootcamp and accomplished a 8.5 minute mile (when I run 6 miles I am usually at 11 minutes per mile).
My plantar fasciitis, which I’ve managed to keep at bay since the horrible and painful onset 5 years ago is creeping back now. It’s discouraging. I am now unsure if I will ever be able to accomplish this goal. :(
Anyone else suffering with plantar faciitis have advice???
I have wanted to run a marathon for a few years now. I believe it was about 3 years ago I was training and was up to 15 miles when I had an injury and coudn’t continue. So then, I was planning on running the Los Angeles Marathon in March of 08, but unfortunately I lost my job right before training began( a major disruption to my life in general), and I didn’t have the funds to join a training group, nor the time to dedicate to training because of the job search.
The other day I was driving through Brentwood on my way to an appoinment and saw all the training groups running up San Vicente. I was overcome with extreme envy, and so I have decided that I HAVE to run in next years marathon. So I am planning to run in the March 09 marathon.
Last year I was training for the LA Marathon with a friend. It was her 2nd, and my 1st marathon. I was up to 14 miles in training, and then I had an injury. I was unable to recover in time to continue training and be ready.
I was hoping to try again this year. Last year, my friend and I started training in November for the marathon in March. Because she is moving to Seattle I thought I’d join a training group. However it seems all the groups started on August 19th, which means I missed out. I’m in pretty good shape, so I could possible catch up, but I feel like it’s too late. Oh well.
I am running in Nike’s Run Hit Remix next Sunday with my friend, before she moves. That is nice since we never did the marathon together. Only 5 miles though. I’d still like to run a marathon, so this goal will remain, although not currently active.
