It’s been 10 days since I’ve had any refined sugar/corn syrup. I am doing a 6 week bootcamp program and they have a eating plan that doesn’t allow it, so I guess that is helping because they check your food journal.
My indulgence is a Kashi waffle with natural peanut butter and honey in the morning.

Last year I managed to quit ALL sugar intake (including cornsyrup found in things like ketchup and bagels) from the 1st of January through Mothers Day. That was about 5 months!!
This year I am going to try to beat that goal as my number one resolution. I would like to make it to my birthday (August), or even the years end. But I want to be realistic, so my current challenge is to beat my old record.
Stay strong!!

This year I did something amazing. I quit eating sugar and cornsyrup (didn’t even eat ketchup) for a whole 6 months starting on January 1. Once I let myself have sweets, I had a low tolerance for a while, but soon I was back to my old sugar binge ways. I’d like to try quitting again.

I get to mark this done because 5 months is a very repectable accomplishment. However I don’t like the way I’ve been feeling as much since I have began eating sugar here and there again (perhaps too frequently) So I am going to do this goal again! (after I eat one more fluffernutter sandwich!) :P

So I hadn’t eaten any sugar since December 31st 2006. Yesterday I had a piece of cake at a barbeque. I am going to mark this goal as done because 5 months was a good run. I have more of a normal sugar appetite now…I can only eat so much before feeling sick. And I’ve come to prefer some of the healthier natural alternatives.

On my vacation to the Oregon coast, we went to a candy store. The candy stores they have on the coast are ridiculous, with everything you can imagine. Salt water taffy is kind of a traditional thing to buy, so I opted for the sugar free variety. Eating sugar-free candy is like electro-shock therapy. The malitol is so gut wrenching, it teaches you to not want to eat candy, as you associate the negative reaction with it.

Everyone in the art department is eating Reeses eggs. And I am eating grapes. Thank goodness I cannot smell them though, the smell is enough to make you eat one.

It occurred to me the other day, that Valentines has come and gone, and I made it through without eating any of those candy hearts. Usually I buy a bag and put it in a candy dish, because I love how pretty it looks on the coffe table. Then I proceed to eat all of the pink and purple ones, then the whites, then the orange and yellow, and last the greens even though they are nasty. Yay! Now I just have to make it through Easter!

I still crave sugar here and there, but I’ve got so much time under my belt, there’s no way I can break my resolution. And my skin is much clearer now, so that’s a plus.

The stores are stocking the Easter candies. Easter has proved a more challenging time for me, and in past attempts to quit eating sugar, I have broken down and eaten easter candy. I love Peeps, Cadbury Eggs, and jelly beans!! Not this year though, it’s going to be different. I had a little binge on some sugar free cookies (I’m trying to avoid the artificial sweeteners too because they are gross) and some carby things. However I should be proud that the things I ate were still fairly healthy. Today my art director brought in 2 kinds of Reeses Eggs, and I am proud to report the I have not had any urge to eat them.
