Re-read the Chronicles of Narnia

I’ve sailed to the end of the earth and back. And completed the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I sure wish I could have met C.S. Lewis and asked him about his personal experiences in connection with things he wrote about. I love how a book reveals the author’s heart.

Goal alert: my reading list is filling up, this could get tricky to stay on task.

Okay, once you get started it’s hard to stop reading. One too many nights past my bedtime, I’ve finished Prince Caspian. Now I’m 1/4 into Voyage of the Dawn Treader. (And every time I read that I think Voyage of Darth Vader.) It’s good so far, just a different flavor than the first book. The dragon part really reminded me of the misery we experience when we live for ourselves.

I finished The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. Started it on the plane, finished it when I got home. I totally missed the metaphors when I was younger. Here is a favorite passage:

“At the name of Aslan each one of the children felt something jump in his inside. Edmund felt a sensation of mysterious horror. Peter felt suddenly brave and adventurous. Susan felt as if some delicious smell or some delightful strain of music had just floated by her. And Lucy got the feeling you have when you wake up in the morning and realise that it is the beginning of the holidays or the beginning of summer.”

I’m taking the “The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe” with me on my trip to Israel. It should be great reading for all those hours on the plane.
