it took me a pretty long time, but i finished his first novel, . it was okay, i think – my father says that his historical books on québec city are more interesting, since he isn’t really a novellist. i guess what disturbed me the most was the “old ideas” that he had about women and everything, although i tried my best to put it all back in its 50-year-old context. i’m still really glad i read it :)
