accessorize  — 2 years ago

i like the idea of accessorizing. having simple clothes, and changing them up with chunky rings, bracelets, long necklaces, big purses, colourful shoes… really pulls an outfit together. it’s a simple concept, but i always seem to forget.

been thinking about tatoos a lot lately too, but i tend to have a problem with commitment.

french chic  — 2 years ago

Since I am entering another era of my life… one that is more professional, but still creative… I think this is a good opportunity to really show me at my best self and invest in nice clothes that suit my personality and really fit!

So here I am starting with the basics.

I am quite intrigued by French style. So classy and simple.
Found an article in Wish Magazine from Oct’05 … still valid today, because it’s not about trends. This I like. These are the tips:

1. Express your femininity with pearls or a ladylike blouse. The accompanying photograph is so beautiful and flawless… perhaps someday I will scan it and post it… it shows a chiffon-y type of blouse under this fabulous little leather vest (by Denis Gagnon) that ties at the waist. and jeans, of course. I love all the contrasting textures.

2. Choose quality over quantity. This is very important to me. And here shows another beautiful jacket by Denis Gagnon (I gotta look this guy up!)

3. Upswept hair and classic black eyeliner give you instant sophistication.

4. You can never have too many pairs of shoes (or boots).

5. Every woman needs a little black dress. Here the model is also wearing beautiful, thick, funky eyeglasses.

6. Opt for timeless peices like a great peacoat.

7. Denim can be elegant. Choose fitted styles, and avoid rips and fades. The photo here shows a really deep denim, a white trench, and a fierce onyx ring that I must have (something like).

8. Never underestimate the power of a great cardigan.

9. Invest in a classic handbag to pull your outfit together.

10. French style is all in the details – chic accessories and tailored items that fit you perfectly. I think this really sums it up perfectly.
