I just bought the Jan issue of Self Magazine. Love it. It is featuring a jump start diet, which will begin on Jan 1. It looks like fun. The whole idea behind this “diet” is to discover what will work for you. There is something new to try every day, small things, like having lunch for breakfast or snacking on nuts. You can keep doing the things you enjoy, and drop the others. It’s a little like a personalized eating plan. I’m in.

“no wonder our perception of beauty is distorted”
to stay motivated!
Was really sick a couple weeks ago, which totally threw me off track. Now I am starting again with the same plan, 3x a week: one cardio/toning, one yoga, one good walk.
Must make this habitual before adding more.
I have also downloaded some new music to get me energized. It really helps. I find that putting on my shoes and ipod (long before I’m ready to leave) prevents me from getting sidetracked. I am the queen of getting sidetracked. Today, for instance, on my way to the gym, I detoured in order to walk down a street lined with great little shops. I arrived at the gym about an hour later than was planned. well, at least that hour was spent out and about, exploring. hm. maybe I should switch it around and allow myself to shop only after I go to the gym…
This past week was okay, considering the procrastination. I ended up getting in a session at the gym, a long walk, and a bit of yoga at home.
This coming week will continue the goals outlined in my last entry, but i will start earlier in the week.
Just over a week ago I set myself very simple goals, small steps, but it just didn’t work. So I am going to hold myself to planning at the beginning of every week and logging at the end of every week. As it is only mid week right now, I can still plan three sessions of some sort. Here are the options that are most likely:
Wed: Gym for cardio and toning
Motivation: listening to french lessons on ipod, can also download new music and make new playlists solely for this purpose.
Thurs: Yoga at gym (8:05am) or workspace (4:30pm)
Motivation: I enjoy it; this one is easy. If I don’t get up early enough, I still have the option to go later in the day.
Friday: Brisk walk
Motivation: I can explore new routes, bring my little camera and take photographs on my way home (I love photo field trips!)
My goals tend to be far too lofty for my recent levels of motivation… priorities have been elsewhere etc. etc…
So here it is:
Monday: cardio/toning at gym; because im most energetic at the beginning of the week
Tuesday: 4:30pm yoga class, offered through my workspace, so i’m there anyway
Thursday: 8:05 am yoga class, at gym; i get lazier at the end of the week and need this to get up early
